History

The Ponteland  War Memorial at the front of the Hall was unveiled on 16 July 1920 and is  grade II listed. Ponteland’s Annual Remembrance Day Service is held at the Memorial each year.

Ponteland Memorial and Ex-Serviceman’s Hall as it was originally known, was opened on 20th December 1922 as a memorial for the fallen soldiers of World War I. Its initial construction was funded by donations from village residents and community organisations. It has been extended considerably over the years.

Today, the Hall operates as a charity and is registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charities Commission.  and is funded predominantly from room hire charges for weddings, parties, conferences, dances etc. The Hall is managed by a group of Trustees and Volunteers who give their time voluntarily.  Now run by separate bodies, the Ponteland Memorial Hall complex includes the Ponteland Bowling Club and Ponteland Tennis Club.
